Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 Receive Update with Adaptive Audio and Enhanced Gemini Live

Google has started rolling out a new firmware update for the Pixel Buds Pro 2 true wireless earbuds. The update, arriving as version 4.467, introduces several new features designed to improve sound quality, usability, and overall convenience.

Among the most notable additions is Adaptive Audio, which intelligently balances your listening experience with environmental awareness. Whether you’re walking through the city, riding public transport, or working out at the gym, the earbuds automatically fine-tune audio to reduce distracting background sounds while keeping you alert to what’s happening around you.

The update also brings Loud Noise Protection, a safeguard against sudden blasts of sound. If something like a fire truck siren or construction noise spikes unexpectedly, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will instantly lower the volume to help protect your hearing.

Another standout feature is the addition of head gesture controls for calls and texts. You can now nod to accept a call or reply to a message, or shake your head to decline—making the experience truly hands-free and more intuitive.

Google has also enhanced Gemini Live performance in noisy environments. With improved audio processing, the earbuds can better isolate your voice and filter out background chatter, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted interactions with Gemini even in crowded places.

The update is being released gradually and will download automatically when the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are connected to a Pixel phone or any Android device running version 6.0 or newer. The download process takes around 10 minutes, and installation occurs the next time the earbuds are placed in their charging case with enough battery power—also taking about 10 minutes.

With these new improvements, Google continues to push its flagship earbuds closer to a seamless, AI-powered listening and communication experience.

For users who don’t receive the update automatically—or for those who have disabled auto-updates—there’s also a manual update option. Simply place your Pixel Buds Pro 2 in their charging case, open the Google Pixel Buds app, and go to More settings > Firmware update. If the option is available, tap “Manual update available” and follow the prompts on-screen. The process typically takes around 15 minutes.
