Google One's Free Fitbit Premium Perk Won’t Last Much Longer
In March 2024, Google surprised many UK users by bundling Fitbit Premium and Nest Aware—now called Home Premium—as free perks with Google One Premium. It was a pleasant bonus at no extra cost, but sadly, those benefits are coming to an end next year.
Google has started notifying UK Google One Premium subscribers about the change. Beginning October 1, 2026, both Home Premium and Fitbit Premium will be removed from the plan. According to Google’s support page, users will receive full refunds for their most recent Home Premium Advanced payment on that date.
Google One Premium Loses Major Perks
After October 1, 2026, current 2 TB plan holders will lose their Google Home Premium entitlements. To retain access, members must upgrade to the new Google AI Pro membership. Google will offer a prorated refund for any remaining balance on annual 2 TB plans or the Home Premium add-on to users who choose to upgrade.
This change affects only UK subscribers. In other regions, Google One plans never included Fitbit Premium or Home Premium, so those users remain unaffected.
Google’s AI Pro Discount Softens the Blow
To ease the transition, Google is offering a 50% discount on the AI Pro plan for existing subscribers. However, even with the discount, the upgrade comes with a steep price increase. The annual cost jumps from £80 to £190—and after the first year, the discount disappears.
While the AI Pro plan adds deeper Gemini AI integration across Gmail, Docs, and other Google services, many users may find it hard to justify the new cost. The plan also only includes the standard Home Premium tier, not the advanced one that’s being discontinued.
Fitbit Premium’s Value Questioned
In the UK, Fitbit Premium costs £7.99 per month and offers access to guided workouts, AI-based fitness insights, personalized daily recommendations, and mindfulness sessions. However, many users feel the perks don’t justify the subscription’s price—especially when bundled access disappears.
The End of a Short-Lived Bonus
For UK users, the removal of Fitbit and Home Premium from Google One Premium marks the end of a generous but brief perk. Google’s AI Pro plan may offer more advanced tools and tighter service integration, but for many, the loss of free fitness and home benefits will sting more than the new features will excite.
