Google's Underrated AI Shopping Tool Just Made Online Shoe Hunts Surprisingly Easy
Online shopping often feels effortless—you can simply click, pay, and wait for your purchase to arrive. However, one of its biggest drawbacks is uncertainty: you never quite know if a piece of clothing will actually look good on you. Google set out to solve this issue back in 2023 with the launch of its virtual try-on feature.
Google's AI-powered try-on is an innovative shopping tool integrated directly into Google Search. Over time, the Mountain View tech giant has continued improving it, adding more realistic visuals and better product coverage. Among its most notable updates is the ability to visualize how apparel items look on real people—an invaluable aid for online fashion shoppers. Now, Google is elevating this experience even further by extending the feature to shoes.
According to Google’s official The Keyword blog, starting today, users can use the try-on tool to preview how different pairs of shoes would look on them. The process is as simple as before: find a product listing on Google, tap the “try it on” icon, and upload a full-length photo of yourself. Google’s AI then automatically maps the shoes onto your image, offering a realistic preview of how they’ll appear on your feet.
Google's try-on expands to more countries
Currently, this new AI shopping tool is available only to users in the United States. But Google has announced that it will soon expand access to shoppers in Australia, Canada, and Japan in the coming weeks. This global rollout signals Google’s ongoing commitment to making online fashion shopping more personalized and convenient.
With AI continuing to evolve, it’s likely that Google will eventually introduce try-on capabilities for other fashion items—such as accessories or outerwear—enhancing the way we shop online. For now, the ability to virtually try on shoes marks another exciting step forward in making digital shopping smarter, faster, and more human.
